I’ve finally got the chance to eat at Jollibee here in America. I tried their franchise at Great Mall Milpitas. Jollibee was established in the US on 1998 with their 1st restaurant located at Daly City – the city of Pinoys (I tell you a lot of Filipinos are living in this area). It catered to the Filipinos and Filipino American families in the area, and Jollibee brought them a familiar feeling of home with the langhap-sarap taste that they remember and have continued to love. The menu are the same and the serving though is slightly larger. I observed that the place was so busy and patronized mainly by Filipinos/Filipino Americans. I only saw a couple of non-Filipino customers. Filipino kids who I think grew up already in the US were also brought into the restaurant and parents acquaint them to the Jollibee brand. Most of the employees too were Filipinos. Continue Reading »

There are a lot of things I want to experience. Even though my area of study is in health care, that doesn’t stop me from dreaming of working in other fields. I would like to experience being a secretary or executive assistant, an office clerk, a travel reporter, a nanny for an affluent family, a special eduction teacher, a tour guide, a violinist, a fashion buyer, and etc.
This holiday season, I enrolled myself as a part-time sales associate for Macys. I have never been one. So I’m excited to add this training and experience to my resume. It’s extra income for me and I get to enjoy discount in the store. I pride myself of always having good customer service skills. I’m cool under pressure and I’m rarely annoyed at people (but with my family is a different story! hahaha) so this job is perfect! Continue Reading »

I just had a revelation…I love fall! The season has the best and most chic fashion. Winter is under a bundle of clothing, spring is flowery and feminine, summer is fun casual, but fall is all about sophistication. With the mix of warm and cold weather, layering is a on-going theme. Then there are the cardigans, blazers and the light jackets/coats that you can partner with almost everything and upgrades the outfit instantly. Colors run in neutral tones indicating elegance and quiet power however once in a while putting on bold colors brings flash and glamor and is a welcome feast to the eyes.
Here are what I’ve been drooling over for fall:
- Boyfriend blazer – it’s dinner jacket/cold-weather barrier/chic accessory rolled into one. Instead of going for the usual blazers, add a boyfriend blazer in your wardrobe to differentiate you from office chic to fashionable chic. There are different kinds of fabric and styles, but I go for the nicely Continue Reading »

During my parents’ routine trip to Costco, they surprised me one day when they brought home a different kind of ice cream. I frowned upon that ice cream because: first the weather is getting cold for ice cream, second it’s pricey at around 12USD, third, sugar equals weight gain and cavities! My mom was justifying that when she tried it on the taste sampling booth, she said it was so good and even my dad agreed with her. But $12 for a cup of ice cream?!! (well it’s 8 cups/box).
